PETA: Tax Meat!

I cannot stomach PETA's ideology--views symbolized by the disgusting comic book aimed at kids depicted here--but I sit in awe at its leaders' propaganda and advocacy skills. They never miss a chance to get their message out. Now, they urge that meat be taxed to reduce global warming. From its press release:

With our proposal, a typical meat-eating family of four would only pay about $5 per month, and a chunk of that would likely be absorbed by the large meat companies. (And if a family did replace some of their meat consumption with healthy vegetarian foods, they would likely save hundreds or thousands of dollars in medical expenses over time as their health improved.) Revenue from a meat tax could be used to fund educational programs about the health and environmental benefits of reducing meat consumption.
There will never be such a tax. But it gets PETA in the news and its message out. These people are committed!

Scientists Using Fish and Insects to Boost Security--PETA Will be Outraged

Scientists are using bluegill fish to screen water for toxins and are developing methods by which bees and cockroaches will help with airline security. As I often say, never under estimate the imagination and abilities of scientists.

Just don't tell PETA. It thinks fish should not be kept in tanks. It has also protested cruelty to cockroaches, and has called the brood of insects, "children."

PETA to Al Gore: Go Veggie

You have to hand it to PETA: It doesn't miss any chance to promote the animal rights agenda. It is now warning Al Gore that he will be considered a hypocrite if he doesn't stop eating meat because of the purported contribution cow flatulence and other animal wastes purportedly make to the purported problem of human-induced global warming.

Of course, if vegetarianism somehow caused global warming, PETA wouldn't care. It doesn't want anyone eating meat because of its "rat is a pig is a dog is a boy" ideology, not due to genuine environmental concerns. PETA's commitment to the fight against global warming is just so much grandstanding--which, it must be admitted, PETA is better at than any other advocacy group in the world

PETA: It's About the Money

PETA has had trouble lately because its true colors have been showing. For example, this little story: Heather Mills, Paul McCartney's estranged wife, has apparently been cut off by PETA from participating in its work because Paul McCartney's family wants no part of her. McCartney is in the midst of a bitter divorce and gives a lot of money to PETA--which says a lot about his judgment, but we won't go there for now. Faced with the potential loss of a cash cow, PETA cut Mills off without the courtesy of a phone call, letter, or thank you for past services. For PETA, it's all about the money.
