And Now for the Important Stem Cell Work: Increasing Bra Cup Size

Well, it was bound to happen. Adult fat stem cells are going to be used to increase breast size. From the story:

A stem cell therapy offering "natural" breast enlargement is to be made available to British women for the first time.

The treatment could boost cup size while reducing stomach fat. It involves extracting stem cells from spare fat on the stomach or thighs and growing them in a woman's breasts. An increase of one cup size is likely, with the potential for larger gains as the technique improves.

A trial has already started in Britain to use stem cells to repair the breasts of women who have had cancerous lumps removed. A separate project is understood to be the first in Britain to use the new technique on healthy women seeking breast enlargement.
It beats silicone, but really. And it sure shows how therapy quickly morphs into "enhancement." There are also potential risks. And ponder this: What if abundant curves go out of style again? Breast reduction surgery?

...maybe we won't add this one to the list.

There was plastic surgery and no one said anything about it; of course there's this now. Start messing with things and more things keep being messed with in more and more ways.

You know bmmg39, I think this would trump the list. We can't get attention for work on diabetes, heart disease, corneal repair, spinal cord benefits, Parkinsons sickle cell anemia, cancers, organ replacement... I don't see how adult stem cells can be a secret if this works. "Where'd that come from?" "My own stem cells. You wouldn't believe what those stem cells can do." I think we win on this. I'm not sure if I'm being funny or serious. But wouldn't that be something. What if after all the miracles happening with ASCs and iPSCs charging ahead and this is what does it and closes the door on treating human life as a raw resource and commodity? Someone will probably try to help men too. More late night commercials with Bob. I don't even want to think about it.

Dang. Did they think this through? My mom had a cancerous lump removed 10 years ago, and after radiation and what not, was thought to be cured. She just had to have a mastectomy last year and is still undergoing chemo - after all this time it came back. Why in the world are you going to ENCOURAGE NEW CELL GROWTH in an area of the body that has already been cancerous???

So want to say that somehow these things always, always, always seem to come back around to.........

But it's not quite since this is manufactured and won't carry over to the next generation..

Or are "they" hard at work this very sec spending billions trying to find a way that it will.

Wouldn't surprise me one bit if Hugh Hefner was funding the research.
